Pinewood Derby

The Pinewood Derby is a racing event for Cub Scouts. With the help of parents, Cub Scouts build their own cars from wood, usually from kits containing a block of pine, plastic wheels and metal axles. The pinewood derby was selected as part of "America's 100 Best" in 2006 as "a celebrated rite of spring" by Reader's Digest.

Below is a collection of links you may find helpful when trying to get ideas for your next derby car. All cars and parts must conform to the current rules in use by Pack 653. You will come across countless other sets of rules but only the rules currently in use by Pack 653 apply to our derby.
